    Savannah Jazz Band

In this our 75th year we've had a long run of successes so we must have chosen the right bands to get such good attendances. With the Savannah Jazz Band as our next visitors that is unlikely to change. Another "must have every year" band. Led by John Meehan on drums, a really driving drummer who looks so casual behind the skins, he is well backed by Chris Marney on banjo and vocals and Tony Pollitt on bass. And what a front line! Bill Smith on cornet, vocals and occasional harmonica, Roger Myerscough on reeds and vocals, remember him with the Phil Mason band? And that leaves Brian "Sam" Ellis, trombonist in the real New Orleans style and the band's musical director. Let's hope he brings his keyboard because that provides a really fiery backing to Bill Smith's vocals and harmonica playing. Be there early for a decent seat.

Christmas party with the Peter Frank Dixieland All Stars

With the cash tills in the shops ringing in the festive season, it's time to advertise our Christmas Party to remind you of this mega event.
Peter Frank's Dixieland Allstars have been booked to entertain us once we've had our glass of wine (or fruit juice) and mince pie.
This band is another of our regular visitors and, you will remember, is made up of musicians who are all bandleaders in their own right.
Ian Royle waas sunning himself in Spain last year so a special welcome back to him to front the band on trumpet and vocals. The rest of the personnel are unchanged for years now so they are probably getting to know each other. Andy Wallace on reeds and Dave Morell on trombone and vocals complete the front line. Peter Feank on bass keeps them in order with Chris Howse on banjo, guitar and vocals and Rod McNamara on drums keeping a steady beat. Much fun and frivolity is expected includig, inevitably, an extended brolly parade.
We've had a great year so come and enjoy the last session in 2016.
