Eagle Jazz Band – special guest Tom ‘Spats’ Langham

Date:

The original Eagle Jazz Band was formed in 1951 and continued to delight audiences worldwide for an amazing fifty-four years, one of the longest formed bands in the UK. In 2005 The band renamed itself “The Millennium Eagle Jazz Band” after the death of the only remaining founder-member Tony Hobson, twelve years on the band have decided to revert back to the original name.

The current line-up consists of Terry Williams (trombone & vocals), Tim Jones (drums) along with stalwarts Pete Brown (trumpet and valve trombone) and Brian Lawrence (bass). Matt Palmer (clarinet & saxes) joined in 2004 and assumed leadership when the band became the Millennium Eagle Jazz Band. The band reverted to it’s original name in 2015.

Due to the unfortunate long term illness of the band’s well respected banjo player Brian Mellor we are delighted to welcome Thomas “Spats” Langham to join for the evening. Spats is no stranger to NRC audiences having made several past appearances displaying his virtuosity on banjo & guitar as well as his delightful vocals.
